New Work:
Last Light, 20” X 20”, oil on canvas
This is a new painting of mine of New Mexico. A few years ago, my family went for an evening hike in Santa Fe. As we were walking back to our car, the sun started to go down. The light kept changing as the sun got lower, and there was a short time while the light outside was incredible. Everything seemed to be glowing golden. I took several pictures with my phone and created this painting from one of my favorites. It’s called “Last Light.”
Brushy Canyon, 10” X 0”, oil on cradled panel
This painting is of a canyon in Carlsbad, California. I was there a few years ago and went for a run one morning. The different colors of the grasses were beautiful, as was the light falling across the canyon.
Farmhouse, 18” X 14”, oil on canvas
Early this year, my husband’s aunt asked me to paint a picture of the house where she lived years ago. It was a place where her kids grew up, and where there were lots of family gatherings-- a farmhouse in Napoleonville, Louisiana. I have never seen the house, but she sent me some pictures of it. After the family moved out, it was unoccupied and later used as a film location for the 2012 science fiction movie “Looper.” Here is my picture of the farmhouse.
