Last Light. 20" x 20"A few years ago, my family went to New Mexico after Christmas. One afternoon, we decided to go for a hike. So we headed up to some nearby mountains for a 3 mile hike. As we were walking back to our car, the sun started to go down. The light kept changing as the sun got lower, and there was a short time while the light outside was incredible. Everything seemed to be glowing golden. I took several pictures with my phone and created this painting from one of my favorites. It’s called “Last Light.”
Brushy Canyon 10" x 8"This is a canyon in Carlsbad, California. I went for a jog there and loved the colors of the grasses as the sun was rising.
Farmhouse. 18" x 14"Early this year, my husband’s aunt asked me to paint a picture of the house where she lived years ago. It was a place where her kids grew up, and where there were lots of family gatherings-- a farmhouse in Napoleonville, Louisiana. I have never seen the house, but she sent me some pictures of it. After the family moved out, it was unoccupied and later used as a film location for the 2012 science fiction movie “Looper.” Here is my picture of the farmhouse..
Stagecoach Park. 12" x 9" This is a painting of Stagecoach Park in Buda, Texas. I started it as a plein air piece, and I finished it in the studio. One thing I learned while I was painting there is how the park got its name--the stagecoach from Austin to San Antonio used to stop in Buda. So there are two cool historic building in the park, a Stagecoach House and a Post Office dating back to the 1800s.

Off the 101 Highway. 10 x 8Driving north on the 101 highway in Sonoma County, California, I looked out the window of the car. The landscape was green from spring rain and the hills were dotted with oak trees. Charming.
Adobe Walls. 16 x 12The adobe architecture in Santa Fe, New Mexico gives the city a unique look. The colors are warm and earthy, contrasting with the pops of turquoise and green in the painted gates. I walked by these gates near a park in town. One gate was propped open a bit, displaying a peek at the courtyard inside.
Spring in Charlottesville 20 x 20About ten years ago, I had a chance to move to Charlottesville, Virginia. My husband was offered a job there. We visited the city, walked around downtown, toured an elementary school, ate at some local restaurants. I had never been there before. But it is a beautiful place, with a lot of history and scenic views of mountains and forests.
French Quarter Hideaway. 9 x 12New Orleans, Louisiana is full of charming historic buildings. And there’s more than meets the eye. Interior courtyards that beckon for you to stop and stay for awhile. This is one of those French Quarter Hideaways.
Majestic Sandia. 16 x 12Majestic Sandia depicts the Sandia Mountains which are located east of Albuquerque, New Mexico. I have spent a good deal of time in New Mexico and find the expansive views they're stunning. I love to see the changing colors of the mountains depending on the weather, time of day, and season. I painted this from observing the Sandia mountains on a summer afternoon.
Still Life With Tulips. 12 x 16White tulips in Austin, Texas painted on a rainy day.
Santa Fe Sunset. 24 x 18Santa Fe, New Mexico is a beautiful place in the winter. When snow falls, it lands gracefully on the adobe walls and piñon trees. The New Mexico sky is expansive, and it is beautiful to watch the colors in the sky changes as the sun sets.
Handle With CareFlowers are beautiful, full of color and vibrant. They must be handled with care. Remember to also handle yourself with care. Delight in your senses. Smell the flowers, the perfume. Taste the food. See the beauty around you with your eyes. Don’t just rush by the things around you. Take a moment to be present.
A Breezy Day on the Gulf. 16 x 12It was a cool and breezy day in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The wind was whipping the flag by the water. Clouds billowed overhead. The coastal grasses moved and whispered in the wind.
